Independent outdoor retailer Outdoors & Active has reached the final of the UK’s Best Small Shop Competition 2018.
Run by the Independent Retailers Consortium, the competition celebrates the commitment and creativity of independent retailers and the central role they play in their local community.
Outdoors & Active have been trading for almost 12 years in Weston-super-Mare and pride themselves on offering quality products with good old fashioned personal service.
Owner Paul Batts commented: “As well as quality products and service, we are the Official Scout Shop for the area, have a large camo section in-store for the Cadets, which also appeals to airsoft, bushcraft and fishermen, but we are also a footwear and rucksack fitting specialist. We keep a huge selection of accessories, much more than many outdoor shops, which is why customers love to spend so much time here.”
The winner of the 25 finalists will be announced at a special ceremony at the House of Commons on 13 November, where they will be crowned UK’s Best Small Shop.
Outdoors & Active were also involved with Weston-super-Mare gaining status as a plastic-free coastline town earlier this year. The store has never used or given out a plastic bag in all its trading years, and Paul also uses green energy suppliers.
