Today, backpack specialist Lowe Alpine announces the launch of ‘Click & Fit‘; an innovative new scheme designed to bridge the gap between the online and in-store retail experience for customers in the UK.
Click & Fit is a service encouraging customers to choose packs online to be delivered to a participating retailer near them for a custom fitting experience in store – all for free, with no commitment to buy.
Online spending in the UK reached a record 21.5 percent of total retail sales in November 2018 (ONS), however despite this trend in consumer behaviour making ecommerce increasingly profitable for retailers, data shows that the sale of backpacks remains a predominantly ‘in-store’ experience.
“We always recommend that our backpacks are expertly fitted in-store,” explains Max Longstaff, Head of Online at Lowe Alpine. “By introducing Click & Fit we are aiming to combine our retailer’s expertise with the convenience and choice of ecommerce. As a business we constantly ask, what can we do to support our bricks and mortar retailers? In such a challenging time for the high street, Click & Fit promises to combine our retailer’s expertise with the convenience and choice of ecommerce.”
Following a similar format to the familiar Click & Collect service used widely by ecommerce retailers, Lowe Alpine’s Click & Fit service has two key differentiators:
- No upfront payment: customers pay in store if/when they have made their selection.
- Bespoke fitting experience with an expert in store: guarantees a perfect fit and advice on pack selection and features.
Lowe Alpine’s Click & Fit offers customers the opportunity to do their research and choose packs they think will be right for them online, without the commitment of investing in a pack which might not be the right size or fit for them upon delivery. With Click & Fit, they can order up to four packs into their local store for free, before making a well-informed purchase following a bespoke pack fitting experience, ultimately enhancing the customer experience.
“With the high street continuing to struggle in the current climate, Click & Fit is a solution designed to support our partners in a digital world,” concludes Max. “Ultimately, we want to make it as easy as possible for our customers to choose the right world-class carry system for them, so they can focus on getting out there and making the most of their life on the move.”
Mark Brigham, Marketing Director at Ellis Brigham, says: “Ellis Brigham are delighted to be a key partner in the launch of Click & Fit. The scheme is a fantastic addition to our current instore custom pack fitting service: SureFit that guarantees the pack is right and correctly sized and fitted for your next adventure.”
Click & Fit will initially launch with participating Ellis Brigham stores and independent Lowe Alpine stockists across the UK. For more information, visit https://lowealpine.com/uk/backpacks/about-click-and-fit/
