The free digital magazine launched by the Outdoor Industries Association (OIA) and Target Publishing in 2017, Getting Active Outdoors, has evolved to become GetOutside magazine. The name-change signals the start of a partnership between Ordnance Survey, Target Publishing and the OIA which sees the magazine join Ordnance Survey’s highly-successful GetOutside initiative.
Designed to get more people outdoors, more often, the magazine highlights inspirational features, useful tips and helpful advice – all free and easy-to-read across all devices in a familiar magazine-format.
Nick Giles, Managing Director of Ordnance Survey, said: “Helping more people to get outside more often to live an active outdoor lifestyle is at the heart of everything we do. By partnering with Target Publishing and the Outdoor Industries Association to evolve Getting Active Outdoors magazine to GetOutside magazine, we are extending our commitment to produce and share quality content, which inspires the nation and educates everyone about the benefits of the outdoors.”
Andrew Denton, Chief Executive of the OIA, commented: “The evolution of Getting Active Outdoors to GetOutside magazine represents a huge leap for our initiative with Target Publishing. Working alongside Ordnance Survey and aligning the magazine with the hugely successful GetOutside initiative – which is the OIA’s core B2C partner project – will help the magazine reach even more of the British public; encouraging more of them to get outside, more often. We look forward to continuing to work with Target Publishing and other OIA partners to contribute original, inspirational content for the magazine and motivate the UK to GetOutside!”
David Cann, Managing Director of Target Publishing, added: “Target Publishing is passionate about the benefits of the outdoors on the British public’s health and wellbeing. By partnering with Ordnance Survey – who share our vision of a fitter, happier and healthier Britain – we can expand the magazine’s potential reach by a further six million annually. We are excited about the future of GetOutside magazine and the positive affect it will have on the whole outdoor market.”
GetOutside magazine will be published twice a year, with the re-branded spring/summer issue being published on 2 April and a special printed preview available to pick up at the OIA AGM and Conference on 16-17 March. It will be available to read across the GetOutside website, www.getoutside.uk.
