The outdoor retailer will provide expert advice, walking guides, and in-store visuals to support the campaign
Cotswold Outdoor launches multi-channel support for the National Trust’s Great British Walk campaign 2015, which is an opportunity to discover the stunning UK countryside, with guided and self-guided events across the UK. As the charity’s recommended outdoor retailer, Cotswold Outdoor will support the new campaign with a series of in-store walls and window displays, showcasing the outstanding natural beauty of the Great British Walk routes. Windows will also feature product from recommended brands including Merrell, Berghaus and Garmin. The campaign follows research from the National Trust, which reveals that walking enhances good health by boosting feelings of calm and happiness, decreasing stress and increasing positivity.
Visitors to the Cotswold Outdoor website can find out more about the partnership and how the organisations are working together as well as find links to hundreds of the National Trusts’ downloadable walking routes. They can also pick up expert advice on choosing the right kit for any type of walk; whether summiting a peak or taking a stroll on a beautiful coastal path. In selected stores, customers can also pick up regional walking guides for their local area.
“The Great British Walk campaign demonstrates how well Cotswold Outdoor and the National Trust compliment each other,” said Hans Falkenburg, CEO of Cotswold Outdoor. “We hope that the campaign will encourage more people to explore the British Isles, and that they do so with clothing and equipment that they can trust, from Cotswold Outdoor. Our staff are all outdoor enthusiasts with a high level of expertise, and so we’re delighted to be able to support walkers as they head out on their own Great British Walk.”
Dr Simon Pryor, Natural Environment Director at the National Trust said: “The Great British Walk campaign aims to inspire people to make the most of the outdoors with more than 1,000 walks to chose from, spanning both coastal and inland areas. We’re delighted to have Cotswold Outdoor’s support and it’s great that our members can draw on their expertise and make the most of their specialist equipment and clothing, to enjoy one of the many diverse walking routes – whatever the weather conditions.”
